Aurok signs Hampshire based Martyn Bennett for `03 Clio Championship

Aurok Motorsport has signed Martyn Bennett to drive in the 2003 series of the Elf Renaultsport Clio Championship. Aurok will mount a three car challenge for the Clio Championship which is part of the prestigious TOCA tour which also promotes the British Touring Car Championship.

Martyn, aged 22, lives in Basingstoke and has had a distinguished driving career on the racing kart circuit. He started in the 100cc Junior TKM class and then moved up to Senior TKM at the age of 16. He came third in two club classes in 2000 and graduated to 125cc gearbox karts last year. Martyn has also been racing at endurance meetings for three years for the official team of a major highstreet supermarket chain.

Based near Alton in Hampshire Aurok Motorsport is a division of Aurok Ltd, the leading engineering and development services company for the motor racing industry. For Aurok Julian Phillips, Motorsport Director said, "We are delighted to be able to give a local lad his first break into saloon car racing. Having seen Martyn in action on the kart circuit, we are convinced he is now ready for the Clio Championship where Aurok Motorsport intends to make serious challenge for 2003 team winner."

Race aces choose a Hampshire village as their rural base

One of the biggest behind-the-scenes names in motor-racing has found a new home in East Hampshire. A farm near the Meon Valley village of Colemore is now home to Aurok. a leading race engineering and development services company. Aurok has worked with some of the most important names in motor sport, helped win over 100 championships with over 8,000 race successes.

Bringing the former Surry firm's various activities together on one site is part of Aurok's plans to run it's own team in next year's British Touring Car Championship. That's also why Douglas Anderson has been recruited as Commercial Director because he'll be responsible for marketing the company and securing the funds required for the firm's new BTCC race division. Douglas brings with him a wealth of experience gained from working with a major blue-chip company for the last 14 years. His appointment will allow the other directors to concentrate on race team preparation. "With the additional space and facilities at Hermitage Farm, Aurok now has the resources to mount a serious challenge for the British Touring Car Championship," said Douglas. "We hope to be able to announce an agreement with a major manufacturer soon and we also have exciting sponsorship packages available to suit every marketing budget."

Aurok provides engineering and development services for teams involved in everything from karting to Formula One. Its suspension services division provide design, development and production services for some of the major British and Swedish racing teams in F3, F3000, Formula Renault and Touring Cars. It is also helping develop suspension products for the Caterpillar Truck racing team and will be providing scrutineering services for the British Formula Renault championship. Research and development work is also carried out for Koni Suspension and design and development engineering is provided for Jankel, producers of specialist vehicles. The firm's race engineering division is currently contracted to provide services to one British touring car team and two in the Swedish Touring Car Championships - one the Volvo works team.

Technical Director, Toby Phillips, has been working with the Flash Engineering AB's Volvo S40 Super Touring team, mostly as Edward Sandstrom's race engineer, while Managing Director, Dave Phillips, has been lending his expertise to rival, Jan Lindblom's Vauxhall Vetra Super Touring for the Picko Troberg team. Additionally, Toby is the race engineer for Aaron Slight's Vauxhall Astra Super Touring car for the Barwell Motorsport team in the British Touring Car Championship.

Race Director, Julian Phillips, worked with Vince Martin, owner and driver of Martin Motorsport, to prepare and manage his Number 10 car in the Elf Clio Renualtsport UK Cup in the 2002 Championship. The race management division is also involved in the development, preparation and management of a team in the British Clio Cup Championship.
